Elementary student charged with indecent exposure

HOUSTON – An elementary student is facing a serious charge after he was allegedly caught exposing himself in class.

Katy I.S.D. officials sent a letter home to parents Wednesday night.  They also released a statement reading:

"On March 5, school officials at Mayde Creek Elementary were notified of an alleged act of indecent exposure by a student in a fifth grade classroom.  The parents of the students known to have witnessed this inappropriate conduct were contacted following the incident."

A district spokeswoman tells Local 2 that after learning of the incident, Katy I.S.D. police promptly investigated the incident, and says the student was disciplined in accordance with the district's student code of conduct.

The incident was referred to the district attorney, who accepted charges. The student is now facing a class B misdemeanor for indecent exposure.

Katy I.S.D. has not said how the student was punished.

Since the student is a minor, no other information regarding this case has been released.
