2 steal 5 handguns they pretended to purchase, Crime Stoppers says

HOUSTON – Crime Stoppers and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are asking for the public's help in finding two people accused of stealing weapons from a Houston pawn shop.

The duo entered a pawn shop in the 11200 block of South Wilcrest Drive on June 1.

Crime Stoppers said they spoke to a clerk about purchasing five handguns. Authorities said the duo handed the clerk $1,500 in cash for the handguns.

The clerk told the two she needed to see a valid Texas ID. Authorities said they went to their vehicle, returned with a backpack and requested to see other handguns. The clerk then returned the money.

While the clerk had her back turned, the two stole the five handguns they were pretending to purchase and ran out of the building, Crime Stoppers said. They were seen driving a silver Pontiac with paper license plates.

Crime Stoppers said it will pay a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the charging and/or arrest of the robbers in this case.
