Drivers warned about car break-ins along JFK Blvd near Bush IAH Airport

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is warning drivers who plan to make a pit stop along JFK Boulevard on their next trip to Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport to lock their car doors and not to leave any valuables in plain sight.

Local 2 has learned businesses along JFK Boulevard near Bush IAH are dealing with a rash of vehicle burglaries in their parking lots. The crimes are happening in broad daylight.

Houston police are taking proactive policing measures as a result. Local 2 obtained surveillance video from a Shell gas station on JFK where a customer recently had his SUV broken into while he was inside the store.

The video shows a car pulling up alongside the man's SUV while he's in the store. Two men could be seen stealing items from the man's vehicle after one of the thieves smashed in the passenger-side window.

The thieves had been casing out the parking lot, waiting in their car by a gas pump, waiting for the right moment to strike.

The video shows the pair tossing the man's belongings into the backseat of their four-door car before driving away. The victim returned to his SUV moments later and realized all his stuff was gone.

If you recognize the car or the men in the surveillance video, you are urged to call HPD's Northeast Patrol Division.
