Driver wanted in New Year's Day hit-and-run

74-year-old victim suffers serious injuries

HOUSTON – Deputies are trying to find the driver who hit 74-year-old man's car and ran away from the scene.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said a man was driving a blue 2005 Chevrolet Silverado westbound in the 2400 block of West Mount Houston about 7:45 p.m. on New Year's Day.

The driver may have been racing a Chevrolet Camaro, investigators said.

A 74-year-old man tried to make a U-turn and was hit by the pickup truck, detective said.

Two men inside the pickup truck got out and ran away without checking on the victim, investigators said.

The 74-year-old man was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Detailed descriptions of the men have not been released.
