Driver wanted in fatal hit-and-run

BAYTOWN, Texas – A woman is devastated after her husband was fatally hit by a vehicle and the driver didn't bother to stop.

Baytown police said Michael Lloyd Taylor, 37, was run over in the 600 block of Cedar Bayou shortly after 7 p.m. on Sept. 29.

Taylor was thrown onto railroad tracks and the driver fled the scene, investigators said.

"How is that right for you to leave him on the side of the road to die?" asked Stephanie Moses, Taylor's widow.

Taylor had been walking home from a barbecue at a friend's house. He was hit when he was leaning into a car being driven by a friend who was offering him a ride, police said.

Witnesses said after Taylor was hit, the driver who hit him made a U-turn, saw that he hit Taylor and took off.

"I don't know how that person could sleep at night, knowing that he hit him," Moses said.

Investigators said witnesses described the vehicle that hit Taylor as a charcoal gray 2000 to 2005 Mercury Mountaineer  with a Texas license plate that's last four digits are Y121.

Anyone with information is asked to call Baytown Crime Stoppers at 281-427-TIPS.
