Man calls in fake helicopter crash

HOUSTON – A fake 911 call could land one man in serious trouble.

Police said a man called in a report about a helicopter crash, but investigators said he made it all up.

"A helicopter just went down in the woods, like, I heard, like, it was like a loud "boomp" at first," the man said in his 911 call. "And then, like, I guess they were like trying to find somewhere to land, maybe it was like an emergency landing. And I guess they couldn't land, because it's like woods or whatever, but you can hear like the loud "boomp." And you could see, like, it literally just crashed, and there was like a big cloud of smoke."

That call and another fake 911 crash call came in the second week of January. Houston firefighters were called out to check on both incidents, wasting time and resources.

Investigators are looking into whether the same man was behind both calls.
