Five people were taken to the hospital Saturday morning, after a driver made a U-turn into oncoming traffic, and caused a 4-car pileup.

Officers said that driver was in a pickup truck, headed south on Highway 6 near Patterson Road.

According to investigators, around 12:30 a.m., the driver made a U-turn in the middle of the road.

The pickup turned into the path of an SUV that was going the opposite direction.

Officers said the driver of the SUV couldn't stop in time, and crashed into the side of the pickup.

Two other cars that were driving in the same lane then slammed into the back of the SUV.

One of the five people injured in the chain-reaction crash was in serious condition. The other four were stable.
