HOUSTON -

A driver is behind bars after police say he led them on a high-speed chase from Missouri City into Houston.

It all started Saturday morning around 12:15.

According to the Houston Police Department, an officer originally spotted the car speeding and attempted to pull it over, but the driver refused to stop.

The man sped away, ignoring all stop signs and red lights.

When the driver reached Houston, the Houston Police Department then joined in on the chase.

According to police, the driver led them in and out of major streets in Southwest Houston, eventually turning down the West Sam Houston Parkway feeder road to West Bellfort, then to the Southwest Freeway.

This is when the man finally turned into a hotel parking lot, where police surrounded and trapped him.

The chase lasted approximately 20 minutes.

He was quickly arrested and found to have an outstanding warrant for a driving while intoxicated.

Police believe this may have been his reason for fleeing.

He now also faces felony evading charges.
