HOUSTON – A driver led officers on a high-speed chase on several Houston-area highways Monday.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers said the chase started in Liberty County after a traffic stop on suspicion of not signaling a lane change.
The driver, Delvin Green, got out of the vehicle during the traffic stop. He suddenly ran to his pickup truck and a trooper shocked him with a Taser gun, investigators said.
Green managed to get back in the pickup truck and flee, officials said.
The chase went through Montgomery County into Harris County. Troopers chased the vehicle on Highway 59 southbound, the Sam Houston Tollway and down Interstate 45.
The chase reached speeds of 100 mph, according to authorities.
Investigators said Green threw drugs out of the vehicle during the chase.
Green tried to run over a DPS trooper as he threw spikes out in an attempt to stop the pickup truck, detectives said.
A trooper fired one shot at the vehicle during the chase, officials said.
The chase ended in a neighborhood on Tarberry near Parkway in northwest Harris County. Green bailed out of the vehicle and was arrested a short time later, investigators said.
Green will be charged with evading arrest and may face other charges, officials said.
