Driver leads deputies on hour-long high-speed chase in north Houston, authorities say

HOUSTON – A man was arrested Monday after he led deputies on an hour-long high-speed chase on Houston's major freeways.

The chase started around 11:25 p.m., when deputies got a call about a disturbance between a man and woman on Fallbrook and West Sam Houston Parkway.

Police said Obdulio Mancillas, 37, and his 31-year-old ex-girlfriend were parked in a moving lane of traffic at the above address.

When deputies arrived, the woman exited the vehicle and told deputies she was being held against her will and that Mancillas forced her into his vehicle after following her to a laundromat in Montgomery County earlier in the evening.

Police said Mancillas then drove away in a tan Chevrolet Equinox and attempted to evade police at high speeds.

Officers followed the driver to the Beltway, onto Highway 249, then to 290.

The man made his way to the Katy Freeway, then back up 59 to North Sam Houston Parkway. He went west to the North Freeway before he was stopped at Cypresswood after hitting spike strips, deputies said.

Mancillas was arrested and charged with evading arrest. He is being held with no bond.
