HOUSTON -

Houston police are investigating after a woman was killed and two passengers injured in a single-vehicle accident this weekend.

HPD says at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday the victim was driving a silver Kia at an apparent high rate of speed eastbound on the South 610 Loop when she failed to maintain a single lane and struck a guard wall, causing the vehicle to overturn.

The driver and two passengers, a female and a male, were ejected from the vehicle.  Both females were transported to an area hospital where the 21-year-old driver was pronounced dead.  Her identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The female passenger suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.  The male passenger was uninjured.

No other motorists or vehicles were involved in this accident.
