When HPD arrived at the house, the man jumped in his car and sped off, police said.

According to reports, the officer chased the driver south on Cullen to Reed, then west to Ferdinand, and then north to McKinley.

Police said that is where the suspect lost control of the car and crashed into a ditch.

The suspect then jumped out and ran on foot, but officers were able to catch him a couple of blocks away, officers said.

The driver was then taken to the hospital because he was having trouble breathing.

At this point police said it's unclear why the driver took off in the first place, or what caused him to crash.
