HOUSTON -

A driver was taken to the hospital after police said he slammed into a guardrail on a southwest Houston feeder road.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday on the Southwest Freeway feeder road just past Sweetwater.

According to reports, the driver of a pickup was heading north on the feeder road when he swerved to avoid a broken down car and crashed into a guardrail.

Emergency crews transported the driver to the hospital in an unknown condition.  Police said he is expected to survive.

The name of the driver was not immediately released.
