HOUSTON - A driver was killed early Friday after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a tree in northwest Harris County.
It happened around 12:35 a.m. in the 10000 block of West Compaq Center Drive.
According to investigators, the driver was speeding through a sharp curve when he went off the road and slammed into a tree.
The vehicle then skidded sideways, flipped over and caught fire.
A passerby saw the accident and rushed over to help, police said. He kicked out the glass in the back of the vehicle and tried to pull the driver out.
However, investigators said the fire was too intense and the passerby could not get to the driver, who died at the scene.
The identity of the driver was not immediately released.
