HOUSTON -

A wandering horse was hit and killed by a driver in northwest Houston.

Officials said the horse somehow escaped from the property where he was kept along West Little York near Phillips around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The horse made its way onto Little York where he was hit and killed by a driver who couldn't stop in time, police said.

A woman in the passenger seat had to be taken to the hospital for cuts to her face.

Investigators said a pickup truck driving in the opposite direction also ended up hitting the horse.

No word yet on whether the owner will be ticketed.
