Driver hits, kills horse that ran into street in NW Harris County

HOUSTON – A driver hit and killed a horse that ran into the middle of a busy street in northwest Harris County.

The incident happened at Ella Blvd. and Grand Point. We've learned the horse belonged to Texas EquuSearch. EquuSearch says a volunteer got off the horse, named New Moon, to search some brush when the horse got spooked and ran into the street.

Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies say a vehicle then hit the horse and the animal was killed.

The driver was not injured.

The horse was being used at the time by an EquuSearch team looking for 30-year-old Kelly Dorron, a man missing since last month.
