Houston police said around 3:45 a.m. Sunday morning, a cow wandered onto the North Freeway and was running on the main lanes.
"I am still kind of confused about the situation," said the driver, Stacy Holcomb.
Holcomb was on her way home on the Gulf Bank overpass when she saw a cow. She tried to swerve, but it was too late.
"I was just driving, going home, and all of a sudden I just see a cow, and I thought I was dreaming, or my mind was playing tricks on me or something. Then, all of a sudden, the cow hit my windshield window" said Holcomb.
Her sister, who's house Holcomb had just left, said she didn't believe her sister when she told her she had hit a cow on the freeway.
"I thought she said couch at first, but she said a cow," Halcomb's sister, Nina Washington, said.
The cow died after hitting the windshield and was taken away on a flatbed.
Holcombe's car was badly damaged and had to be towed. Holcombe said she is just thankful to be alive.
"My daughter had a dream two days ago that someone got killed, and I believe this was her dream," said Holcomb.
Police are still trying to figure out where the cow came from and how it got on the freeway.
