Driver hits deputy with car, shots fired

Deputy hospitalized in stable condition

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A deputy is recovering in the hospital after a driver rammed his car into him in North Harris County.

It happened Friday around 10 p.m. near the intersection of Bammelwood Drive and Bammel Village Drive.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the deputy was was patrolling in the area when he noticed two cars sitting at the dead end of Bammel Village Drive.

The deputy pulled down the street to investigate and stopped behind the two cars.

When he got out of his car one of the drivers suddenly took off hitting the deputy and knocking him down.

The deputy then fired several shots at the vehicle as it sped away. 

The driver went a couple of blocks down the road, but had to stop due to the deputy shooting one of his tires.

The suspect then  jumped out and ran on foot. 

Deputies set up a perimeter and eventually found the man.  

The deputy was taken to the hospital in stable condition with minor contusions and scrapes.

The man in the other car was also detained for questioning. 

Deputies are investigating what the men were doing.
