Driver dies in collision with school bus

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – A driver was killed after her car collided with a school bus on Friday morning.

Fort Bend County sheriff's deputies said the wreck happened at the intersection of F.M. 359 near F.M. 723 about 7:40 a.m.

Detectives said the driver of the car swerved into a ditch, overcorrected, lost control and hit the school bus.

Investigators said the driver of the car died at the scene. Her name was not released.

Lamar Consolidated Independent School District officials said five students were on the bus at the time of the collision. The driver and two students were taken to Oak Bend Medical Center as a precaution.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
