Driver crashes into tree near fire station in Kingwood

KINGWOOD, Texas – A driver had to be airlifted to the hospital after crashing into a tree outside of a fire station in Kingwood.

The accident happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Houston Police Department.

Apparently a driver in a Nissan Xterra was heading north on West Lake Houston Parkway when he lost control, skidded off the side of the road, and slammed into several trees.

Police said firefighters who were nearby in Station 102 heard the accident, rushed outside to help, and found the driver lying in some bushes.

He was flown to the hospital in critical condition.

Police said it's still not clear exactly what caused him to crash, but they were testing him to see if alcohol played a role in the accident.
