HOUSTON -

A man was killed after slamming into a light pole and a fence early Sunday morning, police said.

The accident happened at around 12:45 a.m. in the 13200 block of Alief Clodine.

"A car was traveling eastbound on Alief Clodine, and for unknown reasons seems to have lost control and struck a pole," said Sgt. J.R. Roberts with the Houston Police Department.

The 21-year-old driver, who police say was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.

Police said they are still not sure exactly what happened in the moments before the crash, but did say it's clear there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the accident.

"We don't have any indications of foul play or anything," said Sgt. Roberts.

A witness told police the victim was speeding before the crash.

The victim's identity was not immediately released.
