A driver crashed into a northwest Houston apartment complex, knocking out power to the units early Wednesday morning.
Around 4 a.m., police said a driver in a Dodge Stratus was headed west on 34th when he lost control and crashed into an electrical transformer at the Clearbrook apartment complex in the 4000 block of West 34th.
"I thought he was going to come in through our apartment," said one resident.
According to reports, the force of the impact pushed the transformer into the brick wall of the building, knocking out power to half of the apartment complex.
Shortly after, CenterPoint Energy crews arrived at the scene to work on restoring the power. They said it could be hours before the power is back on.
Police said the driver fled the scene on foot.
