HOUSTON – A driver has been charged in connection with a crash that killed his passenger.
Houston police said Miguel Antonio Padilla, 24, was speeding westbound in the 6300 block of West 43rd Street shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday.

Padilla lost control of his car, jumped a curb and then hit a concrete pillar under the Northwest Freeway, police said.
The rear-seat passenger, Melissa Arias, 20, died at the scene, investigators said.
Padilla was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.
