HOUSTON -

A driver will likely face charges after causing two crashes -- one of them deadly -- on Houston's south side.

Houston police said a 26-year-old woman drove her pickup truck into a car at Scott Street near the South Loop just before 9 p.m. Wednesday. The car's driver said the woman was about to hand over her information, when she jumped back in her truck and drove off.

In her escape, police say she ran the red light at Holly Hall Street, smashing into the side of another car. The impact killed 47-year-old Ingrid Wilson and left the driver, a 48-year-old man, in serious, but stable condition.

Both he and the woman were taken to Ben Taub General Hospital. She was in stable condition. The man was treated and released.

Wilson's brother, Bryant Alexander, said, "She [suspect] hurt every single person in our family. She destroyed a person we loved and cared a lot about. Ingrid was our life, that was my oldest sister. We were close and you took her life from us."

Officials say the hospital is testing the woman's blood to see whether she was intoxicated. If it comes back positive, she could face intoxication manslaughter charges.
