A driver was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase across town.

Officers initially tried to pull the suspect over around 3 a.m. Saturday when they spotted his car weaving and changing lanes on Highway 59 near Hillcroft Avenue, police said.

According to reports, the driver refused to stop and sped around the West Loop to the North Freeway, where he continued heading north until he reached Cypresswood and the neighborhood where his mother lives.

Police said he reached speeds up to 100 miles per hour during the chase.

When the suspect finally pulled into his mom's driveway, officers arrested him.

Police said they asked him why he took off, and he stated that he did not have a driver's license and also had marijuana and a gun on his person, so was afraid to stop.

The driver now faces felony evading, weapon possession, and drug charges.

His name was not immediately released.
