HOUSTON -

A driver was arrested after leading deputies on a chase and crashing in northeast Houston.

It started around 1:30 a.m. Friday, when a Precinct One deputy spotted a car speeding near West Hardy Road and Gulf Bank Road.

According to reports, the deputy attempted to pull the driver over, but he refused to stop, leading deputies on a short chase north on Airline Road.

At some point the driver lost control, deputies said, and crashed into a light pole and a tree.

Deputies said the car was not stolen, but the driver was taken into custody and faces felony evading charges.
