Dozens of car windows shot out

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – Dozens of car windows in a Fort Bend County subdivision were shot out by what appears to be a BB gun.

Approximately 34 vehicles were hit over the weekend -- 10 in New Territory and 24 in Greatwood.

"There's no real pattern here. Some of the addresses were difficult to get to. There is only one way in and one way out," said Capt. James Burger with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.

Calls started coming in around 7 a.m. Saturday.

"I was just shocked because Sugar Land is such a nice place to live and this neighborhood is beautiful. The people are friendly. Nothing ever happens here," victim Cheri Pyer said.

Patrols have been increased in the area.

Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

"This is not part of some kind of initiation. These are teenagers or young adults who are bored," Burger said.

Investigators said because there were so many cases and the damages reached a certain dollar amount, the suspects may end up being charged with a felony.

"It's not cheap and I don't want to spend $200 on something that was just plain stupid," victim Mark Rotz said.
