A downtown Houston landmark was demolished Sunday morning.
The Macy's 10-story building was imploded around 7:30 a.m. and reduced to rubble. Since 1947 the building was a landmark in the heart of Downtown Houston.
Sunday crowds gathered in high-rises and on the ground to reflect and witness history.
"I use to shop at this Foley's since I was a little girl. We use to shop in the basement of the budget store," said Kathleen Balli who showed up to witness the implosion.
The Main Street store closed in March, about 66 years after it opened as the Foley's Department Store.
Owners of the building plan new retail development for the site.
