New Waverly - More than a dozen students were forced from their dorm in the middle of the night after it caught fire early Monday morning.
Firefighters got the call from the Gulf Coast Trade Center in New Waverly just after midnight.
Firefighters arrived and found heavy smoke and one of the dorms on fire, New Waverly Fire Captain Jimmy Williams said.
They called for extra help because the youth camp was located in a rural area, Williams said.
Walker and Montgomery County units brought in extra water to help fight the flames.
Firefighters went into defensive mode once they realized the building might collapse.
Sixteen teenagers got out safely.
No one was hurt.
The Gulf Coast Trade Center provides vocational training for disadvantaged youths.
