Donut shop collects donations for Pearland Little League team

PEARLAND, Texas – Pena's Donut Heaven turned its tip jar into a donation jar ahead of Pearland's first Little League World Series game Friday night.

For 85 cents, anyone can buy a special "Pearland Pride" doughnut, with a "P" written on top of a chocolate frosted doughnut.

"We're very excited. The game is tonight; we need people here this morning to show support for the kids. So come over here, we've got great doughnuts. Great everything. And let's make it a good celebration for the kids," said Ray Pena, the owner of Pena's Donut Heaven.

Pena said the donations from the tip jar would go to support the Pearland East Little League team.

The team's first game is Friday night at 7 p.m.

Before the first pitch, Pena's Donut Heaven also plans to have a pep rally for the boys. That rally starts at 5 p.m.
