Dollar General store robbed at gunpoint

Clerks threatened, forced to empty safe

CONROE, Texas – Conroe police are looking for a man who robbed a Dollar General store.

Surveillance video shows the robber walking through the store on N. Loop 336 near 105 on Monday evening with a gun. His face was covered with a red bandanna and he had a hoodie on his head.

He forced two employees to empty the safe and the cash registers, then dump the money into plastic shopping bags, police said.

Police said he got away with more than $1,000 and before he left he tied up the clerks with duct tape, then told them to wait 10 minutes before calling the police or he would come back and kill them.

It's unclear if the suspect fled the area on foot or in a vehicle.

Investigators said Dollar General workers told them this man may have robbed other stores in Harris County.

"If he's done it before and he's obviously willing to put his hands on people, he's a dangerous guy," said Sgt. Joe Smart with the Conroe Police Department.

Investigators don't have a detailed description because the robber had his face covered the entire time, but they believe he's a thin black male in his 20s, about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black and white checkered jacket with brown pants and an Astros baseball cap.

Anyone with information on this crime is urged to call the Conroe Police Department at 936-522-3270.
