HOUSTON -

After seven years, a local family has just had a reunion they thought would never happen.

They lost their dog in Dallas and thought "Reese" was gone forever. Then recently they got a shocking call that Reese somehow ended up in Seattle. A good Samaritan near Seattle stepped in to help.

Dinah Miller is happily seeing an old friend again after an unexpected parting of ways in Dallas.

"We were visiting relatives in Dallas. I ran an errand, he was barking at the door and they thought it was a good idea to let him out," said Dinah Miller. "He ran and ran and I never saw him again. We searched for days."

A man found Reese on a busy road and took him to a vet who found his microchip. He was almost 2,000 miles from home.

"Nervous and excited, I just hope he accepts us again. We don't know what he's been through, but maybe he'll be happy again with us," Miller said.

Dog and owner picked right up where they left off -- both were overjoyed to see each other.
