HOUSTON – Police are increasing patrols at several Spring Branch ISD schools Wednesday following disturbing reports of a naked man exposing himself to students.
Three separate incidents were reported Tuesday all within an hour as students were making their way to class.
One parent says her 13-year-old daughter was walking to school with some classmates when a man called them to his vehicle. When they looked his way, she says they saw he wasn't wearing any clothes.
"I didn't know what to think I was like, did anything happen? Did he try to grab one of the girls?" said Christine Oliveira.
She says all kinds of things rushed through her mind after the principal called to let her know about her daughter's walk to school Tuesday morning.
"A guy stopped and said, 'Hey, come here,' and apparently he didn't have any clothes on," said Oliveira.
Spring Branch ISD got reports of three separate incidents near campuses Tuesday morning between 7:45 and 8:35 a.m. -- one near Hollibrook Elementary, one near Spring Oaks Middle School and another in the area of Tiger Trail at Shadowdale. In the last incident, the man was reportedly nude and standing outside of his white two-door vehicle.
"It's disturbing. I would like some police out here or something for at least a couple of days," said Oliveira. "It's crazy. It's so close to home. It's concerning."
In addition to sending letters home with students Tuesday, the district also increased their police presence at six campuses Wednesday morning.
But as parents like Jose Escobar walked his son to school, he questioned just what else can be done.
"Anybody can pass by. This guy could be somewhere else already. Believe me, these people travel. That's what I think," Escobar said.
Thankfully, no students were physically hurt during any of the incidents.
The suspect was described as a white male, around 30-40 years old with a dark complexion and a stubble beard. His vehicle was described as being white with two doors and it had a chain hanging from its rear-view mirror.
While police keep an eye out for that suspect, the district is reminding parents to talk to their children about being aware of their surroundings and the importance of not talking to strangers.
