Man killed after car falls from jack in NW Harris County

57-year-old man working on his car dies in accident

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A 57-year-old man working on his car in an apartment complex parking lot was killed Sunday night in what investigators are saying was a tragic accident.

The accident happened at The Lakes Apartments on Timber Creek Place in northwest Harris County.

The unidentified man was underneath the white Cadillac working on the engine when just after 6 p.m., the jack holding up the car collapsed, crushing the man underneath.

A passerby who witnessed the accident tried to help rescue the man by lifting the jack, but it was too late. The victim died at the scene.

The man's body was transported to the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office.

Harris County sheriff's deputies are investigating.
