Disabled veteran's vehicle keyed while parked at Baytown Target

SPRING, Texas – Karen Moon of Spring is angry and upset after someone keyed the car belonging to her husband -- a disabled Iraq War veteran -- and there's surveillance video of the act.

Footage from a Target store in Baytown Friday shows a woman keying the car of retired Army Major Steven Moon.

Moon is a disabled veteran who deployed to Iraq three times in his 24-year career.

The question is why did she do it?

"For what? What purpose have you served," asks Karen Moon. "And why would you just do that to someone else's property?"

The video shows Moon's car parked in a disabled space. The woman drives up in a small, silver-colored SUV. When she gets out she looks into Moon's car -- possibly checking for the blue disabled placard. But Moon's license plate identifies him as a disabled veteran and is all he or any other veteran needs to park in a disabled space.

"She checked to see apparently if we had a blue placard in the windshield," says Karen Moon. "Obviously she doesn't know that if you have DV plates you don't need to have a blue placard in the window."

The woman can be seen dropping her purse and when she stands up she proceeds to key Moon's car from the the headlight to the back bumper on the passenger side. She calmly grabs a shopping cart and strolls inside to shop.

The Moons now will have to fork over $2,700 to repair the damage.

"It hurt because my husband went to Iraq three times," says Karen Moon. "He came back and all he wanted was to have a nice car."

Baytown police say the woman possibly was driving a silver Nissan Juke. If you have any information on her identity or whereabouts call Baytown Police.
