Detectives: Video may reveal nightclub shooter

HOUSTON – Harris County sheriff's detectives hope surveillance video will help them identify the man responsible for a Sunday morning shooting that left one man dead and three others wounded.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of the La Cave nightclub on FM 1960 near Stuebner Airline.

Detectives said five men were thrown out of the club for fighting.

"Their anger then turned towards the employees of the club, the bouncers, and then one of them started shooting," Detective Dennis Wolfford said.

Investigators said video from the club shows the suspected shooter being searched by bouncers as he entered the club. Detectives said they believe the man then went to the parking lot to retrieve a gun after being thrown out and came back to shoot the bouncers.

Timothy Powell

Club patron Timothy Powell, 21, was killed during the shooting and three more people were shot and survived. Detectives said they believe Powell was caught in the crossfire and not involved in any of the altercations.

Detectives said club video also shows another man firing a gun at the suspected shooter as he ran off. Investigators do not know the identity of this man either, but believe he may have been trying to defend the victims.

Detectives said they also have not learned the identities of the other men who were thrown out of the club for fighting.
