Deputy investigated on sex assault allegation

Deputy Deshon Foster-Smith has not been charged with crime

HOUSTON - A Harris County sheriff's deputy is being investigated for a possible inappropriate relationship with a 13-year-old girl.

Liberty County sheriff's deputies said they think the girl, a student at Hardin Junior High School, had sex with and/or exchanged and received inappropriate photographs and texts with 49 men and boys.

Detectives said one of those 49 is 34-year-old Deshon Foster-Smith, an eight-year veteran of the Harris County Sheriff's Office who is assigned to the county jail.

Liberty County detectives said the specific allegation they are looking into is that Foster-Smith drove the girl into Harris County, just across the Liberty County line, pulled off Highway 90 and then sexually assaulted her in his car.

KPRC Local 2 tried to contact Foster-Smith, whose last known address was in Hardin. Neighbors said he moved several months ago.

Foster-Smith has not been charged with a crime. He is still employed by the Harris County Sheriff's Office, but he has been relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of an internal affairs division investigation.
