A Harris County sheriff's deputy is recovering after a crash on Beltway 8 in the northeastern part of the county.
Just after 2:30 a.m. Friday, officials said a pickup headed eastbound near the John F. Kennedy Boulevard exit lost its front right wheel.
The truck slammed into the concrete wall, but the wheel continued rolling down the road.
A deputy headed in the same direction attempted to swerve to avoid the tire, but it hit her patrol car and she also slammed into the wall.
The deputy was transported to the hospital by other deputies. She suffered bumps, bruises and other minor injuries.
The driver of the pickup was not hurt.
Deputies cleared the accident scene around 4:45 a.m.
