HOUSTON - A Precinct One Deputy ended up in the hospital after slamming into a wooden pole during a high-speed chase.

This happened around 10:40 p.m. Saturday at Hardy and Harrington near Downtown Houston.  Deputies tried to pull a driver over for speeding, but they say he took off, topping speeds over 100 miles per hour.

Investigators said that the driver slammed on his brakes, which then caused the deputy to lose control and crash.  The deputy was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Initially the suspect escaped, but he was found a short time later at his house.  He is now facing felony evading charges.
