Deputies are searching for the driver of a car who hit and killed a teenager Monday night.
The girl was killed just before 7 p.m. Monday in the 5500 block of Barker-Cypress Road near the intersection of River Sage.
Deputies believe Nicole Ruekwe was hit by several other vehicles as she lay in the road. No one stopped to help.
Investigators at the scene told Local 2 the 14-year-old had an argument with her family and ran out of the house. She was attempting to cross the road when she was hit. That intersection is dark and deputies said it was raining very hard at the time of the crash.
The girl lives just two houses away from the accident scene. One of her relatives had to be taken to the hospital after they heard the horrible news about the crash.
The accident remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
