Deputies are searching for the driver of the car that hit and killed a teenager Monday night.

Rukewe Nicole Tobor, 14,  was killed just before 7 p.m. Monday in the 5500 block of Barker-Cypress Road near the intersection of River Sage.

Deputies believe the freshman at Cypress Lakes High School was hit by several other vehicles. No one stopped to help.

"What if that was your kid?" Tobor's classmate Herlinda Garcia said. "Wouldn't you want others to go help? I mean, others could've helped...and she could've still been here today."

Investigators at the scene told Local 2 Tobor had an argument with her family and ran out of the house. She was attempting to cross the road when she was hit. That intersection is dark and deputies said it was raining very hard at the time.

"I was just sad and emotional that someone could get hit by a car like that," another classmate Jude Kellen said. "It was just sad.  I feel for her family."

The girl lived just two houses away from the accident scene. One of her relatives had to be taken to the hospital after hearing the horrible news about the crash.

"She was funny, I'll tell you that," Garcia said of her memories in P.E. class with Rukewe.  "She was funny and she knew how to make a person laugh."

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information to give them a call.
