PEARLAND, Texas - Deputies are searching for a woman who, they said, tried to snatch a purse from a 69-year-old woman in a shopping center parking lot.
The 69-year-old had been browsing inside Charming Charlie at the The Crossing at 288 in the 2500 block of Smith Ranch Road about 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 22. Two women inside made her uncomfortable with stares and how close they were standing to her.
Brazoria County sheriff's deputies said the woman decided to leave and one of the women who made her uncomfortable attacked her.
A woman, believed to be 20 to 25 years old, tried to steal the 69-year-old woman's purse, but the victim refused to hand it over, officials said. The thief bit the victim to try to make her hand over the purse, investigators said.
Two witnesses came to the 69-year-old's aid and the woman got into a waiting getaway car, deputies said.
"A human bite is probably one of the worst injuries that you can have," investigator Andy Kerstens said.
The victim has to have a series of shots, just in case the attacker had the deadly Hepatitis B.
The attacker was described as white, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 130 pounds with dirty blond hair that may be dyed, blue eyes and acne. She was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans and boots.
The getaway driver was described as Hispanic with a dark complexion, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 160 to 170 pounds with long, dark hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt and blue jeans.
The getaway car was described as a gold 2000 to 2003 Ford Taurus with Texas paper license plate No. 69J8585.
Anyone with information is asked to call Brazoria County Crime Stoppers at 800-460-2222.
