HOUSTON – One person is dead after an overnight shooting at a sports bar in northwest Harris County.
The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the Sport Grill 249 in the 14000 block of Tomball Parkway in northwest Harris County.
"There was a fight disturbance, followed by about four to six gunshots," said Sgt. Ben Beal with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators said the shooting happened during a birthday celebration.
"We believe the shooter was actually involved in a fight with somebody else at the bar," said Beal.
Witnesses said the victim somehow provoked the shooter with a comment or by laughing, which sparked the deadly shooting.
The 22-year-old victim was shot once in the chest and driven to a nearby home.
"His friends threw him into the car and drove him over to Wickover, which is a family's residence, and he was pronounced dead at the scene," said Beal.
So far, no arrests have been made.
