Deputies: Girl, 7, thrown from truck in carjacking at Walmart

HOUSTON – A 7-year-old girl was thrown out of a pickup truck during a carjacking at a north Harris County Walmart Wednesday, according to deputies.

The crime happened in the Walmart parking lot at 155 East Louetta near Interstate 45 around 8 p.m.

Harris County deputies said the child's mother had just buckled her daughter inside her pickup truck after shopping at the store when two men approached her, forced her away from the truck and took off. At the same time, she was trying to free her daughter from the vehicle.

"I opened the door and I was like, 'My daughter's in there,' and they took off," said the mother, who did not want to be identified.

The woman caught up with the truck a second time and found the door was locked. The thieves took off, but the commotion had attracted the attention of other shoppers.

The carjackers then pushed the girl from the truck before driving off.

"Another guy chased him down," a parent said.

The mother and daughter suffered scrapes and bruises but no serious injuries.

Deputies are searching for the suspects.
