Deputies: Father shoots teenage son while hunting

16-year-old shot in groin area, rushed to emergency room

WALLER COUNTY, Texas – A 16-year-old boy was rushed to a hospital after his father accidentally shot him while the two were hunting, according to authorities.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. Wednesday near Courtney Road and FM 2979. The Waller County Sheriff's Office said the man thought he was shooting a deer when the bullet hit his son.

According to investigators, the young man was shot in his groin area.

Authorities said the teenager was transported by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital. The victim's name and condition were not released.
