Officials say driver of truck arrested for driving while intoxicated

ATASCOCITA, Texas – Deputies say a crash in Atascocita left one person dead and several others injured.

The accident occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday in the 6900 block of East FM 1960 near Timber Forest Drive.

Investigators said Colby Fitzgerald was in a Toyota Camry with three others. The driver of the Camry pulled out from a shopping center onto FM 1960, according to deputies.

Deputies said upon approach to the Toyota car in the right traffic lane, a black Ford truck changed lanes to the left lane. The driver of the Toyota changed lanes to the left in front of the Ford truck.

Then, deputies said the front-right of the Ford truck had struck the left side of the Toyota vehicle.

Investigators said the two cars collided, killing Fitzgerald and sending three other people in the car to the hospital in serious condition. No one in the truck was seriously hurt, deputies said.

Officials said the 18-year-old driver of the truck was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
