A boy is recovering in the hospital after deputies say his foot was run over by a riding lawnmower.

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon off of 1462 and Oyster Creek in Brazoria County.

The boy was riding his bicycle when he fell off and his mother, who was cutting grass, ran over his foot with a riding lawnmower, according to the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office.

The boy was taken to Memorial Hermann. His condition is unknown, but deputies said he was conscious and alert.

Deputies said the child's big toes were amputated, but the other toes appeared to have suffered some type of damage.
