A 20-year-old man accused in the murder of a Denny's customer appeared in probable cause court Sunday morning.
Corey Hilton went before a judge on charges of capital murder. He is one of three men accused of robbing a Denny's restaurant near Memorial Park and shooting two people.
The three masked gunmen stormed the restaurant on August 26 and immediately started shooting.
A customer, 64 year-old Greig Placette, was shot while protecting children from the bullets. He later died at an area hospital.
Local 2 spoke with the victim's son about his father's heroism.
"They said he ducked. So, it looks like he got hit here," explained Drue Placette. "It looks like he bent down in front of the kids. So it means he really was a hero. That's what his intentions were. So, I'm proud of him."
A Denny's manager who tried to run away through the front door was shot in the back and is now recovering.
Mario Hilton, 18, Corey's brother, was also arrested and charged with capital murder. Investigators are still looking for 20 year-old Kenya Jackson who is also charged with capital murder.
