The driver from Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, Mexico declared an elephant skull at the Port of Entry, but allegedly could not produce any documentation of ownership or exportation required under U.S. and international law, according to a CBP press release.

The elephant skull was seized and turned over to the U.S. Fish and Wild Service.

“Our CBP officers and agriculture specialists partner with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to enforce federal wildlife laws that protect vulnerable and endangered species,” said Port Director Efrain Solis Jr.
