HOUSTON – The teenage daughter of a woman who was stabbed to death in her north Harris County home has been charged in the killing.

The 16-year-old girl, whose name has not been released, has been arrested and charged with murder.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the 16-year-old called 911 shortly after the attack at the home in the 8300 block of Poplar Ridge about 1 a.m. Monday. She claimed that two men broke into the house and that she and her mother, 48-year-old Mary Ann Murphy, were in bed when the men broke in, investigators said.

A neighbor said he saw the teen, a student at Nimitz High School, run out from her back yard moments after he heard glass breaking. The neighbor said the teen was holding a knife in her hand.

According to court documents, Ahmed told investigators that the teen let him into the home.

The knife used in the killing was found inside the home, according to court documents.
